Lesson 4
My Body Belongs to Me
Key Ideas
- Your body belongs to you and only you.
- Private parts are called private because they are personal, not because they are shameful.
- There is a difference between safe touch (hugs you want), unsafe touch (touch that hurts), and unwanted touch (touch you do not want even if it does not hurt).
- It is always okay to say no to any touch you do not want, even from someone you love.
- Only doctors with a parent or guardian present may need to check private parts for health reasons.
- You get to decide what privacy looks like for your body as you grow.
